Ryan McKay aka: "The Dream Crusher"?

While Crash Street Kids are back in Phoenix working on their new album, lead singer and guitarist Ryan McKay is reprising his role as Phoenix's Simon Cowell. For the 3rd year in a row Ryan will be a judge for Idol in the Skye, a singing competition held at Skye, one of the city's finest hotspots. Notorious for soliciting choruses of jeers from the audience, McKay vows that this year he will continue to "tell it like it is". How else would a Crash Street Kid take on this task? "One of my favorite moments from last year was when a lady came up to me and was genuinely pissed that I did not offer anything constructive, she cursed me up one side and down the other, right there at the bar in front of my wife. We just laughed." says Ryan with a grin. It's not uncommon, however, for Ryan to get plenty of accolades for his critiques, which are dispensed after every performance along with a shot of Jameson whiskey. He's been a fan favorite. Stealing the show from other panelists that include past American Idol contestants and people from all corners of the music industry. "Last year there were people holding up cardboard signs "Don't crash my kids' dream" and stuff like that, When my grandmother came to a show she said 'I never knew you were such a big star'. Hilarious!" A big star? Probably not. But if you come out this Thursday night, you're sure to get a great show featuring some of the valley's best singers. ". it's all for fun, never mean spirited, most of the time I'm just trying to get people to laugh.." The series runs every Thursday night through the summer. This year, the winner receives over $5000 in prizes including a trip to Vegas. Please Read: All of us in the Crash Street Kids' family wish to express our sympathy to the friends and family of Shawn Carter, who was recently killed in a motorcycle accident. Shawn Carter was a tech for CSK from 2007-'09. His last show with us was Cooperstown in January of this year. Following that show he moved to Texas to attend a commercial diving academy. We are all shocked and saddened at the news. Shawn brought so much to our group. To set up and tear down a Crash Street Kids' show is no small task. We are thankful to have had the pleasure to work with Shawn. His energy and exuberance helped keep our lights bright. Shawn, you will be missed, brother. There will always be a cold beer at Shabby Road for you. A.D., Ryan, Ricky, Deuce Crash Street Kids

An Unlikely Combination Turns Heads at Phoenix's Dodge Theater

International Pop Superstar Gloria Trevi chose CRASH STREET KIDS as her back up band for an amazing show at the Dodge Theater in Phoenix on May 23rd! The sold out show was filled to its 6000 seat capacity, as the "Mexican Madonna" and CSK cranked out her biggest hits together on her comeback tour!! While the Dirty Diva strutted her micro miniskirt and stiletto heels around the stage, CRASH STREET KIDS (in full leather, glitter, and make up) cranked out a near-perfect rendition of her classic hits!! The crowd was berserk from the first note, on through to the roof-raising encore, leaving the Dodge Theater in near shambles after the din had died down. "At first I thought it wasn't going to work, but actually it was awesome! The boys did an amazing job, practically taking over the stage by the end of the set..." said LiveNation's Mick Treadwell. After the show, the not-so-divine Miss Trevi made a bee-line for the limo, while CSK remained at the venue to greet fans, pose for pictures, and sign autographs for delerious Gloria Trevi fans of all ages!!! Thanks go to Mick Treadwell and John Durham from LiveNation and 95.1FM Latino Vibe for putting on a sensational event. This truly marked a major comback for the embattled Mexican Pop Diva.
